Guest Blog: By Marie Johnson

I love this extension, it is one everyone should use.WOT is the trusty add-on that will help you stay away from web sites that are  harmful to your computer, or that may have stuff on them that is not in the best interest for you to see. WOT stands for  Web of Trust. WOT is a free community-powered website reputation service that tells you which websites you can trust based on other users' experiences. It protects you from threats that only we (humans) can spot. I like it because it helps you not to get into something that you can't get your computer out of. You can also contribute to letting people know if you think its as good as we say, by rating it yourself. Every website that WOT try's to keep you from going to because it might be bad, has its own scoreboard, you will see a donut looking icon, you click on that icon and it will tell you the scoreboard rating of that site. That way you can see how all the users rated it before you,  because the final judgement is up to you whether you go on the website or not. Then if you do decide to go on the website and you don't think it could be dangerous, then  you can rerate it and WOT will not show you the warning signs again.
WOT simply shows you the website reputations as traffic lights next to search results when you use Google, Yahoo, Bing, or any search engine.

You can also see these warning signs for Facebook and other social networking sites. I believe this add-on is very useful it helps keep me out of websites that could be something that I didn't want to get into in the first place.

My second extension would have to be the EVER NOTE WEB CLIPPER. I love that any url that I might need at a later date, all I have to do is right click on the url and I can clip it right to Ever Note. I have used the Web Clipper for approximately three or four years, it just helps with the fact, that if I need a website to look at later I can put it in the web clipper and there it will be in Ever Note when I need it. You can even clip the whole page if you need to. I would recommend it to anyone.

This add-on detects and replaces advertising banners with identical in size web widgets of our preference. This way every page I visit will  not only be ad free, but bear actually useful information presented by a dozen available types of Adlesse widgets I personally selected. Instead of  a pirate attack I can get a local weather forecast, or whatever I select in place of the advertising banner. I really like this, because those ads really aggravate me and this way I don't have to jump from website to website to get the weather forecast, I will have it right on the same page.. It seems like its always the ads you don't want to see, that aggravate the crap out of you, this way it will be what you want to see not what they want you to see. You can  pick from dozens of widgets, and these widgets can be picked with 6 different languages. I don't know about any body else, but I am on this computer alot and I would ten times rather see something I want to see than seeing those stupid ads. We can use any Ad Blocking add-on that we want and why do I prefer this one, because I get actual information instead stupid gibberish. I get real information , not advertising. Adlesse works with all the major browsers (IE, FF. Safari. Google Chrome and Opera). You might want to give this add-on a try, if you prefer good information over bull crap

With pocket you can put your email in it that you don't have time to read now and read it later. I am always so busy, with the Pocket, I pick out my most important e-mails drop them in the pocket  and anywhere I go I can pull them out later and read them. I can do this on my phone, computer, i pad, or any kind of device that I have on hand. It doesn't just have to be my computer at home. I know there are a lot of things out there that we put things in to do later, but to me a lot of my e-mails are important and with everything we have to do these days this keeps them safe for me. I use this everyday, because I am on the go everyday.

Using Evernote

In class we have been using Evernote quite a bit. Evernote is just basically a digital notebook and you can save notes and even share notes.  I have not used my Evernote for any other reason other than for my computer class, but I think when I start on my research papers and things for other classes I will get more use out of Evernote.  I can defiantly see where and how it is going to be a helpful and useful tool to have a my fingertips.

Using Gmail

I have been using gmail for a few years now and I am a fan of it.  I love the fact that I can have everything Microsoft office has to offer at the tips of my fingers without having to purchase anything.  It is completely free which is another good plus to the program.  I use google docs and my google drive a lot with school to write papers, make power points, and make spreadsheets as well.  It is very useful and handy to have. I used it in high school and as well as college. I love it!
